Light at the end of a JJI-Joist?
James Jones & Sons Ltd. ‑ Timber Systems Division, were welcoming signs of an improvement in market conditions during August when they re‑instated shift working at their JJI‑Joist manufacturing facility in Forres.
Brian Robertson, General Manager said that they had been seeing a constant growth in sales over the past few months and that they had made the decision to reinstate a night shift at the plant in order to be able to retain stock at a level which would guarantee timely deliveries to their distribution network.
"Whilst it is still too early to comment on any ending of the recession, we are currently in the enviable position of finding ourselves with a healthy order book, and coupled with the more encouraging signs from the UK construction sector, we have taken the decision to restore one of our night shifts. The really good news is that we have managed to call back several of the lads we had to pay off when the recession first hit us and we hope this won't be short lived."
James Jones produces the JJI‑Joist, the only British owned and home produced I‑joist in the UK.
