JJI-Joists Specified for New Housing Development
Lagan Homes, the Belfast based company which specialises in providing modern homes in architectural styles ranging from the contemporary to the traditional, is currently building a 27 unit development at Rosscoole Gardens in Cavehill, Northern Belfast.
Drew McMaw, Site Manager for Lagan Homes, commented: “We foresee a lot of interest from first-time buyers. The project, which started in February of this year, is currently in its first phase with 8 units scheduled for completion by June 2011. Once complete, the full development will provide a mix of 3 bedroom semi detached homes and 4 bedroom townhouses.
These new homes will be built in masonry construction and will be clad in a rich red brick with attractive decorative corbelling, reflecting the architecture of the surrounding area. Throughout the development, floors will be constructed using James Jones UK manufactured, FSC certified, engineered timber JJI-Joists™, supplied by leading Builders Merchants, Haldane Fisher.
Drew McMaw explains why Lagan Homes, who have specified JJI-Joists™ on a number of their past projects, continue to use them: “Clients like the fact that they get a cost–effective, sustainably sourced timber floor which doesn’t squeak; and we like how easy they are to fit. If required, we can increase the depth of JJI to 220mm, giving us and even stiffer floor, further reducing the floor deflection”
The JJI-Joists™ are supplied through Haldane Fisher, a local company who have a strong working relationship with Lagan Homes.
