James Jones & Sons Ltd. ‑ Timber Systems Division is pleased to announce the achievement of ISO 9001:2008, a year ahead of the deadline.

The company, which already operated a certified ISO 9001: 2000 Quality System, has been one of the first companies to complete the successful upgrade to the new standard.

Mr Brian Robertson, General Manager of James Jones Timber Systems Division comments:

"Achieving the ISO 9001: 2008 is extremely important to James Jones, as we pride ourselves on the quality of our products and services, and particularly on our environmental credentials. To have completed the upgrade to the 2008 standard so quickly highlights our commitment to the best customer service."

He continues,

"We are already accredited to ISO 14001:2004 environmental management and are looking forward to integrating the management of these two systems."

ISO 9001 is the most established quality framework. It ensures that the company has established procedures to manage its processes in order to satisfy customers. The new version of this standard clarifies the requirements established in ISO 9001: 2000 introducing changes to make it more compatible with the environmental management standard ISO 14001:2004.

This step ensures that an integrated approach is taken to manage manufacturing processes and the environment, in recognition of the increasing role of sustainability as a customer requirement.
