James Jones & Sons Ltd. Timber Systems Division at EcoBuild 2010

EcoBuild 2010 once again provided the Timber Systems Division with an excellent opportunity to showcase the JJI‑Joist system along with their JJ‑Intelliroof, JJI‑Loft and JJI‑Stud systems. Over the 3 days the Technical Sales team spoke with all tiers of the construction industry from Technical Directors to college tutors and their students, conversation topics ranging from complete building systems to the profile and structural performance of the JJI‑Joist.

Business Development Manager Mr. Mark Tilston said: "Following our successful debut at the exhibition in 2009, we decided to roll out the entire Technical Support team over the three days, lucky we did for at times you could not move on our stand for interest. It is amazing that even though I‑Beams have been available in the UK for over 15 years, and the JJI‑Joist itself counting for well in excess of 30M lm of sales in the UK, there are still Architects and Engineers who have not specified I‑Beams".

He continues, "2009 was a very busy year for the Timber Systems Division. Improvements to our JJI‑Joist strength & stiffness properties and the introduction of two new JJI‑Joist beam widths now provide the Designer with an even more cost competitive I‑Beam solution for floors, roofs and walls. 2010 will be another busy year with the implementation of the Eurocodes and more interest in the environmental profile of materials. As such we will be publishing the carbon footprint of our JJI‑Joist by the end of Q2- this will be a first for any I‑Beam available within the UK."

The new fourth edition of the highly acclaimed JJI‑Joist Technical Manual, and interest in the increased thermal performance of JJI‑Joists when used in roof and wall systems, were recorded as the major interest from the show. The most commonly asked question was "Can you really drill a hole that big in a JJI‑Joist?", and the answer "Yes"!

Following another successful exhibition, the Timber Systems Division have already signed to support EcoBuild 2011 at its new venue at ExCel, Docklands, London.
